Welcome to the King of Coins tournament!
Overview
The King of Coins tournament is a casually competitive format. Players will play games against each other over the course of the season for possession of one of eight coins. At the end of the season there will be an 8-player invitational tournament. Players who possess a coin are granted entry into the invitational tournament. The winner of this event will be crowned the King of Coins!
The season will run from March 4 to April 7, with an 8-player tournament on April 13. There will be a $5 registration fee for the season and a $5 registration fee for the invitational. A player may join the season at any time.
The Coins
There are eight coins representing the four original Warmachine factions and the four original Hordes factions. These will be handed out to eight random players at the beginning of the season.
Basic Rules
The King of Coins format follows a standard set of rules for all games played during the tournament (see below). All games must be played following these rules. If it is not possible to follow these rules for a game, then it may not count as a challenge game. For example, a player may not challenge another player during a battle box Journeyman League game or a casual game played at 50 points.
Coin Bearers
A coin bearer is any player who currently possesses a coin. Coin bearers must make all reasonable efforts to be available to defend their coins. The purpose of the tournament is to promote engagement and competition. Please do not acquire a coin and stop showing up to play games! Coin bearers must adhere to the following rules:

Championship
At the end of the season, there will be an invitational tournament open to all coin bearers. Players who possess a coin are granted entry into the invitational tournament and they get to keep the coin! The additional entry fee will be for additional prize support. The winner will be crowned the King of Coins!
The invitational tournament will be April 13 at Guardian Games. Registration at 10am.

- Coin bearers may not issue challenges.
- Coin bearers may not have more than one coin at a time.
- Coin bearers may not participate in more than one active challenge at a time.
- Coin bearers may not have more than one pending challenge. Please resolve challenges one at a time.
- Coin bearers may not refuse challenges and must be available to defend their coins.
- If a coin bearer will be absent or otherwise unavailable for an extended period of time, please alert the event organizer.
- Intentionally or actively avoiding challenges, in any manner, is grounds for confiscation of the coin and removal from the event.
Challengers
A challenger is any player in the event without a coin. Challengers must adhere to the following rules:
- Challenges must be issued in person or through the Cog Collective Discord server.
- Challenges must be issued prior to list selection and deployment. It must be understood by both players that the game is a challenge game prior to the beginning of the game.
- All reasonable means to meet a challenge must be made, however, the onus is on the challenger to make the extra effort to meet the coin bearer. Basically, be prepared to travel to a different store or some other convenient location to play out the challenge.
- A challenger may not have more than one active challenge at a time. Please resolve challenges one at a time.
- If a challenge is unsuccessful, the challenger may not issue another challenge for that specific coin until the coin bearer has been issued a challenge from a different challenger. Basically, no back-to-back challenges from the same challenger to the same coin bearer.
Playing Games
-Individual games:
- Each game must be played at 75 points.
- Each game must be played on the clock. If a player’s clock runs out, then the player whose clock ran out loses the game.
- Each successful challenge must be reported to the event organizer within 24 hours of completion. Please include the names of the new coin bearer, the coin they acquired, and who they acquired the coin from as well as the location where the game took place.
-Tournament games:
- Tournaments run at 75 points are open to challenges.
- Coin bearers may not reschedule any challenges during a tournament. Challenges must be accepted.
- Coin bearers must accept these challenges regardless of pending challenges at the time of the tournament.
Championship
